While in play — The chosen mood uses the dice total in its top right corner or lower left corner, whichever is higher, to determine its value.

- "May" means this effect is optional. You may just play the card for its score and not do its effect.
- You do not have the ability to choose which total to count. It is always the highest value. For example, you are close to being last this round and wish to have the lowest score to get Hurt Feelings. Encouragement does not allow you to count the lower value on the card.
- If Encouragement leaves play, the card it is affecting will revert to the value it would naturally have based on the state of the game. If a choice had previously been made for the card (from when you played it) that previous choice returns.
